A Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) course will start on Thursday, October 5th at the Port Angeles Fire Station. Classes will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This FEMA program is a positive and realistic curriculum that provides citizens the opportunity to learn how to safely approach emergency and disaster situations where those citizens will be initially on their own and their actions will make a difference. CERT graduates will learn about providing basic medical assistance, how to extinguish small fires, and how to search for and rescue victims safely. Completing this course will also give citizens the opportunity to participate in supplemental trainings and non-emergency projects around our communities.
