Engineering Technician I/II/III
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, performs skilled technical work in the assimilation, compilation, and specialized processing of various Public Works tasks and projects. The work involves review of construction plans and applications, performing and/or assisting engineers and other professionals in a wide variety of design, engineering, data gathering, construction management, construction inspection, and development review. Such projects include both public and private street, water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and solid waste systems. Determination of Engineering Technician I, II, or III is dependent upon the needs of the Engineering Division and based on candidate qualifications at the time of hire
Salary:
- Engineering Technician I - $27.270 - $32.567 per hour; ($56,721.60 - $67,739.36 annually) plus benefits.
- Engineering Technician II - $30.698 – $36.654 per hour; ($63,851.84 - $76,240.32 annually) plus benefits.
- Engineering Technician III - $34.547 – $41.259 per hour; ($71,857.76 - $85,818.72 annually) plus benefits.

Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an accredited two (2) year college or university with an Associate’s Degree in an engineering, construction management, or related engineering discipline.
Experience for Engineering Technician I:
- Entry level experience with an Associate’s Degree OR two (2) years of an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in public works and utilities engineering work will be considered.
- Possession of or ability to obtain within 30 days of appointment, a valid Washington State driver’s license at the time of appointment, and a good driving record are required.
Experience for Engineering Technician II:
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in public works and utilities engineering work AND two (2) years of accredited college education. Or five (5) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Possession of a professional certificate in construction management or similar public works related credential is preferred.
- Possession of or ability to obtain within 30 days of appointment, a valid Washington State driver’s license, and a good driving record are required.
Experience for Engineering Technician III:
- At least (8) years of progressively responsible experience in public works and utilities engineering work AND two (2) years of accredited college education. Or ten (10) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Possession of a professional certificate in construction management or similar public works related credential is preferred.
- Possession of or ability to obtain within 30 days of appointment, a valid Washington State driver’s license, and a good driving record are required.
