Garbage Collection
Operational Details
The City's Solid Waste Division services 7,500 residential accounts and 850 commercial accounts. Residents are provided with a 90-gallon container, furnished by the City. Commercial customers can use 90 or 300 gallon containers.
All refuse is placed in city-owned containers and collected by automated trucks. Garbage is collected on all legal holidays except Thanksgiving day, Christmas day, and New Years day.
To report a garbage container needing repair, call Garbage Collection at 360-417-4876.
If you need to change your existing service, please download and complete the Residential Request and Change Form (PDF).
Residential operations run Monday through Friday. View the collections calendar (PDF) and collections map (PDF) for further details. If you live outside the city limits, call D.M./Olympic Disposal at 360-452-7278 for curbside collection.
The cost of solid waste collection for residential customers is $39.97 per month for weekly collection, and $26.74 per month for every-other-week collection for a 90 gallon container. This rate includes recycling.
Containers must be placed at the curb or alley by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day (you may roll it out the night before), and collection can be any time between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Containers must face the street or alley and must be five feet from cars, buildings, or other obstacles. Special arrangements can be provided for residents who are physically unable to place carts out for collections.
Commercial collections are Monday through Saturday and can begin as early as 5:00 a.m. Click here for Commercial Rates. Commercial rates include cardboard recycling. Commercial recycling and yard waste collection are also available for a fee.
If you need to request or change your existing service, please download and complete the Commercial Request and Change Form (PDF).
Materials that are not accepted in garbage containers include:

A container with unacceptable materials will not be emptied. Any garbage outside the container will not be collected. Your container lid must close completely, otherwise it will be considered overloaded and additional charges may apply. Additional charges may also occur for repeatedly overloaded containers.
