- VIRTUAL Public Hearing for a SMA Permit Application (PZ. 21-10) -
WHO: Stakeholders and all community members are provided notice indirectly in the Peninsula Daily News, the City’s website, at the proposal’s location, and at City Hall (321 East 5th Street).
WHAT: The City of Port Angeles received a development application, see application details below. Due to Governor Inslee’s Proclamations 20-25 “Stay Home – Stay Healthy”, 20-28 “Open Public Meetings Act and Public Records Act”, and the anticipation of extensions of these and other proclamations of the Governor restricting public gathering, the City of Port Angeles is scheduling a necessary virtual public hearing for a Shoreline Variance (SMA) Application No. PZ 21-10 conducted by the City’s Hearing Examiner. Application information may be requested from the Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED) by emailing ced@cityofpa.us or by viewing the application materials online at https://www.cityofpa.us/Meetings-Agendas.

HOW TO COMMENT: Interested parties are encouraged to comment on the proposal and may request a copy of the decision once it’s been made and any appeal rights. Any interested parties may submit written comment for SEPA during the 30-day public comment period. The Hearing Examiner decision will be made within 10 business days following the hearing. The decision will be made based on the Staff Report, record, and written public comment and verbal testimony. Any appeal of this decision shall be filed within 21 days after the date of decision. The City will submit the decision to the Washington State Department of Ecology for its approval or disapproval.
HEARING PARTICIPATION: The Audio Only and Live Hearing function will be available 30 minutes prior to the meeting. If you are unable to attend the hearing, or unable to deliver audio public testimony during the public hearing as described above, you may submit your written public testimony in advance of the hearing to ced@cityofpa.us for the Hearing Examiner’s consideration (all written public testimony must be received prior to the hearing date of 5/28/21).
STATE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY ACT: It is expected that a Determination of Non-Significance will be issued for the project. This comment period will be the only time to comment on the environmental impacts of the proposed project, per WAC 197-11-340. The optional DNS process in WAC 197-11-355 is being used. Written comment must be submitted to the Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED) ced@cityofpa.us, no later than April 29, 2021
