[ARCHIVED] Solid Waste Update - Press Release

Press Release

This week the City of Port Angeles continues to prioritize the protection of affordable services to our citizens and customers.  Today, the City of Port Angeles appeared in Clallam County Superior Court, asking the Judge to issue a court order compelling Waste Connections Inc. (WCI) to continue providing contractually obligated services to the City, including operations of municipal transfer stations and curbside services for yard waste and recycle. The court granted the City’s request and vital recycling and yard waste services that our community relies on will continue to be provided by WCI until further notice. The City continues to work toward the termination of the contract with WCI in an effort to provide cost savings to our community. When this transition occurs we will provide advance notice and details relative to the continuation of service.  The City apologizes for any inconvenience that has occurred and thanks every resident of this great community for their continued patience as this matter continues to be worked out.

If you have service questions regarding your recycle or yards waste containers, please contact Olympic Disposal (WCI). If you feel that you did not receive regularly scheduled service, please contact the City at (360) 457-0411 to ensure that you are not charged for a service that was not provided.

There is nothing more important to us than ensuring we provide exceptional service in the most affordable, reliable and environmentally friendly way possible. We look forward to transitioning the existing services underneath the City operations soon and for service continuity as we work through that process.
