WHAT HAPPENED MONDAY EVENING IN PORT ANGELES?

On Monday, January 31, 2022 at about 5:00 PM Port Angeles Police Officers responded to a report that a guest at a hotel in the 500 block of E. 1st Street had threatened an employee and another guest with an edged weapon similar to a machete. Investigating officers received additional information about the suspect's erratic and unusually aggressive behavior. Officers located the man in his room, but he would not come out and speak with officers.

The officers applied for and were granted a search warrant, and Officers who are also trained negotiators spoke with the man until he came out of the room. However, when the man came out he charged toward the office, and Officers used a Taser to stop him.

He was arrested, and booked into the jail. During the follow up investigation the Officers recovered two edged weapons with 12" curved blades. The case is being reviewed by the prosecutor. PAPD was assisted by the Clallam County Sheriff's Office and the Port Angeles Fire Department.  The responding officers are in the photos below.
