The Port Angeles Police Department is pleased to announce the graduation of Officer Lilliana Emery from the Basic Law Enforcement Academy (BLEA) in Burien, Washington. Officer Emery completed 19 weeks of training with law enforcement officers from all over Washington State.
The course work at the BLEA is very challenging and includes firearms, defensive tactics, the law, human relations, emergency vehicle operations, physical fitness, emotional survival and de-escalation. The training is based on adult learning principles and best practice. It is designed to be solid, realistic and verifiable. The students spend their time at BLEA in a combination of classroom and scenario based training and are required to pass both written and scenario based testing.
Officer Emery was a Reserve Police Officer with PAPD prior to being hired as a full time officer in September of 2021. In 2020 she completed the PAPD led 280 hour Reserve Police Officer Training Course that was held in Port Angeles and this was followed by a 14 week field training and evaluation program. Tomorrow she continues her training with a 3 day patrol rife course and then will begin her post BLEA 14 week field training and evaluation program.
When you see Officer Emery please feel free to congratulate her on her accomplishments to date!
