[ARCHIVED] 02/17/22 Assist Clallam County Sheriff- Pursuit and Felony Elude

PAPD Police Blotter 1

On February 17 at about 10:15 AM PAPD  Officers were notified of a vehicular pursuit that was in progress east of Port Angeles.  The Clallam County Sheriffs Office was in pursuit of a felony fugitive who was operating a vehicle without license plates, driving in a reckless manner and exhibiting driving behavior that indicated reasonable suspicion of driving under the influence.
The pursuit entered the City limits and the suspect continued to drive in a manner that showed a disregard for the safety of others.  Given the suspects actions the PAPD School Resource Officer notified the School District and recommended a lock down for schools in the area.
On Lauridsen Blvd near C Street a Clallam Deputy was able to administer the pursuit intervention technique (PIT) and stop the vehicle.  The suspect vehicle collided with a another vehicle before coming to a stop.   PAPD Officers assisted Clallam Deputies in taking the suspect into custody.   PA Fire responded to evaluate the suspect.  No injuries were reported.  The suspect vehicle and a second vehicle suffered damage.
The suspect was transported to the Olympic Medical Center for continued processing for driving under the influence.  Port Angeles City Public Works personnel responded closed the section of Lauridsen Blvd.  The Washington State Patrol responded and PAPD is assisting with a vehicle accident investigation.
Update:  Lauridsen Blvd is now open to normal traffic.  The suspect has been booked into the Clallam County Jail on six charges- 3 Felony warrants, Felony Elude, Reckless Endangerment and DUI/Drugs.
