CASE UPDATE: Wendel R, Wilkie, age 30, of Neah Bay, has also been charged with Attempted Robbery 1 in the case from March 2nd. He remains in the Clallam County Jail.
CASE UPDATE: Wendel R. Wilkie, age 30, of Neah Bay, has been charged with Robbery 1 in the case from February 27th. The investigation continues in cooperation with the prosecutor.
On Sunday, February 27, 2022 just after midnight a convenience store near Front and Chambers was robbed by a suspect wearing a blue bandana over his face who was armed with what appeared to be a handgun. The suspect entered the store, came face to face with the clerk, and demanded the money from the register. The suspect fled on foot with the money.
On Wednesday, March 2, 2022 just after noon a suspect wearing a blue bandana over his face who was armed with what appeared to be a handgun entered the lobby of a hotel near Second and Laurel and demanded money from the till. The suspect fled on foot after learning that there was no cash in the till, and was driven away in a suspect vehicle.
About 1:45 PM that same day Officer Beth Hollis located the suspect vehicle and initiated a conversation with the driver. This break in the case provided Detective Ron Cameron and other investigators with information critical to develop probable cause to make an arrest in the related cases. A suspect was located on Sunday, March 6, 2022 and booked into jail. The prosecutor is reviewing both cases.
