[ARCHIVED] Law Enforcement Memorial

PAPD Police Blotter 2

Friday was the annual Law Enforcement Memorial event.  From our Clallam County Sheriff's Office Administrative Manager Lorraine Shore:
"So many people were involved in making this a really special event! This event is funded solely by donations and this year, we had a donation of $500.00 delivered by our Port Angeles WalMart Managers, who also graciously donated several hours of their time to helping set up tables, chairs, canopies and decorations for our event!! Each year we receive a donation of several hundred dollars from Sheriff’s Advisory Committee Members Barbara Sanford and Alan Barnard and we are so thankful for their support!!
Every year, the American Legion Riders, Patriot Guard and Marine Corps League participate by providing a Flag line, 21 Gun Salute, Bugler playing Taps and our Bagpiper this year was Erik Evans. It really makes this a moving ceremony with their participation.
We were very fortunate to have the Port Angeles High School Choir sing the National Anthem this year and we hope they are able to participate every year!!
Chaplain Byer gave the Invocation and our Honor Guard consisted of Sequim PD, Port Angeles PD and Sheriff’s Office Deputies. They did a wonderful job!
Our fabulous Jail Kitchen Staff  with Supervisor John Alexander, Sarah Huntington, Sgt. Darrell Bryant and retired Kitchen Supervisor Tom Shumway outdid themselves cooking mounds of wonderful food with smiles all around.
Corrections Sergeant Jeff Finley, with his inmate work crew, hauled all the tables and chairs up to the lawn and then back down to the EOC again which was so appreciated!!
Chief Corrections Deputy Don Wenzl hung the huge Police Week banner up between the trees so we could have a nice backdrop for our photos:-)
Our fabulous volunteers Carole and George March (who turns 85 years old soon) make the energizer bunny look like a slacker! EOC Volunteer Dave Kush helped set everything up this morning and thanks to him all the tablecloths stayed on the tables:-)
Jesse Major and Alan Barnard took photos of our ceremony and we love photos so thank you so much!!
Thank you everyone for participating and for your service to our community!!"
PAPD wants to add a very heartfelt thank you to Lorraine Shore who makes this important event happen every year!  Thank you Lorraine!
