[ARCHIVED] MATTHEW HOUK SENTENCED TO 43 MONTHS IN PRISON

PAPD Police Blotter 1

Matthew Edward Houk, age 41, of Port Angeles was sentenced to 43 months in state prison on May 4, 2022 after pleading guilty to Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Second Degree.
The case began on February 25, 2022 at about 9:20 PM when Officer Dan Morse and Officer Kyle Cooper (in the photos below) were dispatched to a domestic disturbance near 4th and Pine. Additional information included that the suspect might have had a gun in his truck, and that the suspect was wanted on an unrelated felony arrest warrant. When the first officer arrived, he caught a quick glimpse of the suspect in dark clothing duck around the outside corner of the house, but then re-emerge.
The officers arrested the suspect for his warrant and found the gun that he had discarded in the grass by the corner of the house. The officers also located methamphetamine in the suspect's pants pocket. Further examination of the recovered semi-automatic pistol showed that it was a Taurus G2c 9mm loaded with 12 rounds in the magazine. An examination of Houk's criminal history revealed that he had been convicted of a serious felony in 2014.
