WHAT HAPPENED SATURDAY EVENING IN PORT ANGELES?
On Saturday, May 28, 2022 at about 5:40 PM Officer Kelly Perry and Officer Jason Hooper responded to an assault in progress at a gas station. When they arrived they located an injured victim, a man in his 60s. When they spoke with the victim they learned that he had been attacked by a gas station attendant.
The investigation, which included observing the scene, reviewing surveillance footage, and interviewing witnesses revealed that the victim drove his truck into the gas station parking lot and was backing up very slowly in an effort to position his truck for fueling near the pumps. Just then a woman drove very quickly through the lot right behind the truck's trailer hitch, which resulted in a minor collision. The woman, whose husband is the gas station attendant, accosted the victim about the collision. The suspect gas station attendant rushed over, grabbed the victim by the throat, choked him, and forced him to the ground.
Which resulted in the victim hitting his head on cement curb and blacking out. The suspect then knelt on the victim's chest and rained punches down on him for about 30 - 45 seconds until he was convinced to stop by witnesses. In addition to the injuries sustained during the attack, the Officers noticed that the victim was limping. They learned that the victim has a pre-existing medical condition that limits his mobility. The Officers arrested and booked the suspect into the jail for Assault Second Degree. The victim received treatment for his injuries. The prosecutor is reviewing the case.
