CASE UPDATE: After reviewing the case the prosecutor has prepared charges for Attempted Robbery 1 and Burglary 1.
WHAT HAPPENED FRIDAY NIGHT IN PORT ANGELES?
On Friday, July 1, 2022 at about 8:00 PM Port Angeles Police Officers responded to a report of a Robbery at a convenience store near 8th and Lincoln. During the investigation Officers learned that the suspect entered the store, grabbed 2 cans of beer out of the cooler and started to walk out without paying.
The suspect was known to the storekeeper because the suspect had been previously served with trespass paperwork from the store. When the storekeeper tried to stop the suspect, the suspect punched the storekeeper in the face several times, breaking his glasses and injuring his nose. The suspect drug the victim outside where the struggle continued. The suspect fled on foot without the beer.
On Sunday, July 3, 2022 at about 11:30 PM Officers received a report that the same suspect had entered a Tobacco Store near First and Chase with the intent of stealing, but the storekeeper displayed a stun gun, and the suspect fled. Officers located the suspect, who was also wanted for two unrelated warrants, near 4th and Peabody, and arrested him without incident. He was booked into the jail. The prosecutor is reviewing the Attempted Robbery Case.
