The existing detour, located on Race Street between east Lauridsen Boulevard and Park Avenue, is now expected to remain in place through Friday, August 25th, while curb, gutter and sidewalk ramp installation work continues. Thank you for your patience.
August 9, 2023 Update:
The existing detour, located on Race Street between east Lauridsen Boulevard and Park Avenue, is now expected to remain in place through Friday, August 18th. During this time, Interwest Construction Inc. will continue curb, gutter and sidewalk installation work. Thank you for your patience.
July 31, 2023 Update:
The existing detour, located on Race Street between east Lauridsen Boulevard and Park Avenue, is now expected to remain in place through August 11th.
However, this section of Race Street will be open to bicycle traffic on Sunday, August 6th, for the Ride the Hurricane event.
July 20, 2023 Update:
Beginning Monday, July 24th, the existing detour will remain in place 24 hours a day while curb and gutter installation work continues. This closure is expected to last through August 4th. Thank you for your patience during this time.
July 13, 2023 Update:
The detour route will remain in place for approximately three (3) additional weeks. During this time, Interwest Contruction Inc. will install curb and gutters, a pedestrian barrier wall, and perform shared-use path grading.

Original Post:
The installation of a new 10” waterline and points of connection to the existing City system is underway as part of the Race Street Improvement Project.
Installation work will continue for the next two (2) weeks. During this time, north and sound bound traffic will be detoured on Race Street between East Lauridsen Boulevard and Park Avenue. The detour will be removed once the waterline installation is complete.
