On Tuesday March 17th City Council resolved that City of Port Angeles rate payers facing hardship need to be provided with relief. The City is taking a multi-pronged approach to providing assistance to businesses and residents in need.
At this time the City has discontinued shutting off utilities due to late payment. Instead we will be making payment plan arrangements with customers.
No interest will be charged on late payments.
The City will continue its low income discount option for electric utility users.
Starting this year we have established low income discounts for water, wastewater, solid waste and stormwater utilities.
The City will be allocating $250,000 towards utility bill assistance for those rate-payers impacted by Governor Inslee’s declaration related business closures. This will include assistance for businesses and employees.
For additional assistance the City has established a dedicated account for donations towards the utility accounts of individuals and businesses unable to pay their utility bills.
Limited rental assistance will also be available to residents.
Applications and details on each will be posted to the City’s COVID 19 response webpage no later than Friday, March 27, 2020, accessed at www.cityofpa.us. At this time we are asking all customers to pay utilities via one of the following methods:
