[ARCHIVED] Drinking Water Safety in Private Water Lines

NewsFlash - Drinking Water Safety

The City of Port Angeles continues to provide safe drinking water to our community. Our water is treated through water treatment filtration and disinfection at the City Water Treatment Plant, and our highly-certified field team ensures that water leaks in the system are repaired and the water is routinely tested for purity.

Due to COVID-19, some buildings in the City have been empty for several weeks – which means private water lines have an increased risk for dangerous bacteria. To ensure the safety of your building’s private water system and devices after a prolonged shutdown, the Center for Disease Control and Washington State Department of Health provide recommendations for you to take before your business or building reopens.

Should you need additional guidance on how to protect your private systems the Washington State Department of Health and Office of Drinking Water are excellent resources.
